Habitat promotion

Dry meadows and pastures

Lichens occur in many habitats. Some habitats, however, offer particularly suitable environmental conditions and a wider range of microhabitats, which is why a large species diversity can be found here. These habitats include dry meadows and pastures in Switzerland. In view of their importance for the native lichen richness, the Federal Office for the Environment has published a fact sheet on dry meadows and pastures as an enforcement aid. The leaflet serves as an enforcement aid for the Confederation and the cantons, provides information on the special features of this habitat for fungi and lichens and offers concrete tips on how to promote it.

Species promotion

Many lichen species can be sustainably promoted through habitat protection. For some species, however, there are indications that more concrete conservation measures are needed to ensure the survival of the populations. For the targeted promotion of these species, the conservation measures to be implemented have been summarised in fact sheets. In many cases, the proposed measures can also promote other lichen species that inhabit the same habitat. There are currently information sheets on the following species (available in german and french):
